Description

The Portland GTX® hiking shoe is a comfortable, waterproof, flexible shoe for men. Category A: The shoe is suitable for leisure, everyday use, travel and hiking on good trails, in cities or in the forest.

The outer material is made of a high-quality leather in combination with a Mesh fabric. The fabric used gives the shoe a sportier appearance.

The Gore-Tex lining not only ensures that the shoe is completely waterproof, but also continues to ventilate well. Water from the outside is stopped by the membrane, water vapor (perspiration) is transported from the inside to the outside. It is important to wear the right (hiking) socks here. Due to the good counter (= heel piece) in the shoe and a firm padding around the ankle, the heel stays in place and the shoe provides good support.

Instead of a shank, which provides reinforcement in the sole in many shoes, the Portland GTX® is equipped with a fire sole. This sole is made of plastic instead of leather and provides more stability. Furthermore, the sole is preformed, which in turn ensures a smooth transition.

The combination of technical properties makes the Portland GTX® a real all-rounder with which you can enjoy walking on paved paths, through the woods, flat but also sloping terrain. Also excellent for a city trip.

The insole in the shoe is removable. The following insole is included with the shoe: Air-Active, this insole consists of a Drysole bottom layer and a soft top layer. This provides cushioning and the right climate in the shoe.

The Portland GTX has a Contagrip Trail sole at the bottom that provides optimal grip, protection and cushioning while walking. The sole is also lightweight and durable.

Good maintenance for these shoes

It is advisable to impregnate your hiking boots with a water-repellent spray that is suitable for shoes with a membrane (GoreTex) before using them for the first time. When purchasing a pair of hiking boots at our store, we do this the first time.

You can nourish the velor leather of this Portland GTX® with a conditioner or wax. Over time, when using a waxed agent, the leather will look like smooth leather.

Cleaning the shoes

First clean your shoes with a soft brush or lukewarm water and then let them air dry. A heater or hair dryer is strongly discouraged! Also rinse the inside of your shoes once in a while. This way you remove the salt crystals from perspiration and the membrane will retain its breathable properties. (Perhaps unnecessarily, but remove the insole from the shoe beforehand.) Air drying is also recommended after this. If necessary, fill with kitchen paper or newspaper to aid the drying process. Always follow the instructions of your chosen maintenance product carefully.
