Material

Nubuck leather

The outer material of the Apennin MFS is made of nubuck leather. Nubuck leather comes from the lightly sanded top layer of the animal skin. Sanding makes the leather feel softer, increases breathability and gives the leather a velvety appearance. Nubuck leather can be waxed, but it can also very well be left untreated. Waxing nubuck leather does make it darker, smoother and shinier. When you spray nubuck leather with a spray that contains wax, you treat this material in the best way.

Leather lining

The Apennin MFS has a leather lining. The advantage of a leather lining is that it can quickly absorb a lot of moisture. In addition, a leather lining contributes to a pleasant fit. The leather molds itself to your feet and therefore ensures that the shoes adapt completely to your feet.

The Apennin MFS has a removable insole from Meindl. This insole contributes to extra walking comfort and is also available separately. We also sell custom insoles that provide extra support.

Outsole

Like many hiking boots, the Apennin MFS a VIBRAM ® outsole. Vibram soles are known for their high quality and durability and are therefore often used in hiking boots. These soles ensure a good transition of the foot. The profile of the sole has been developed in such a way that it provides good grip on different surfaces. In addition, the profile of the sole is self-cleaning. This means that the sole does not retain sludge and soil. Because Vibram soles are wear-resistant, they last longer than other soles.
