Description

The Hanwag Alaska GTX hiking shoe is a comfortable, flexible, waterproof shoe for women. The outer material is made of a high-quality leather.

The Gore-Tex lining not only ensures that the shoe is completely waterproof, but also continues to ventilate well. Water from the outside is stopped by the membrane, water vapor (perspiration) is transported from the inside to the outside. It is important to wear the right (hiking) socks here. Due to the good counter (= heel piece) in the shoe and a firm padding around the ankle, the heel stays in place and the shoe provides good support.

Instead of a shank, which provides reinforcement in the sole in many shoes, the Alaska GTX is equipped with a brand sole. This sole is made of plastic instead of leather and provides more stability. Furthermore, the sole is preformed, which in turn ensures a smooth transition.

The combination of technical features make the Alaska GTX a real all-rounder with which you can get along excellently in our (wet) forest areas, extensive heathland and on rocky paths, but also in the Alps for a light walk.

Hanwag has included the Alaska GTX in the Category: Trek – A shoe placed in this category is a robust, comfortable shoe that is suitable for Trekking in all its facets. A Hut Hike in the Dolomites or 4 weeks trekking in Tibet. The shaft is soft but closes very well around the shin, a ventilation system ensures better air circulation. The shoe has a Gummi edge all around that provides protection and stability.

Good maintenance for these shoes

It is advisable to impregnate your hiking boots with a water-repellent spray suitable for shoes with a membrane before using them for the first time. When purchasing a pair of hiking boots at our store, we do this the first time.

You can feed the nubuck leather of this Alaska GTX with a conditioner or wax. Over time, when using a waxed agent, the leather will look like smooth leather. Brushing with a nubuck brush restores the nubuck structure of the leather.

Cleaning the hiking boots

First clean your shoes with a soft brush or lukewarm water and then let them air dry. A heater or hair dryer is strongly discouraged! Also rinse the inside of your shoes once in a while. This way you remove the salt crystals from perspiration and the membrane will retain its breathable properties. Air drying is also recommended after this. If necessary, fill with kitchen paper or newspaper to aid the drying process. Always follow the instructions of your chosen maintenance product carefully.
